    A Day in The Clouds教学设计

    The theme of this unit is human and nature,focusing on the theme of wildlife protection. Nature is a complex ecosystem, inwhich there are delicate balance between animals and plants. Because of therole of the food chain, the extinction of one species will produce influence,causing a series of chain reaction. Large scale extinction of species will havea serious and even irreversible impact on the ecosystem, resulting inimmeasurable losses. Therefore, it is of great significance to protect wildspecies. To protect wild species is to protect human beings themselves.


    The motto of this unit is "when thebuying stops, the killing can too,” which is a public service advertisingslogan to protect wildlife. It tells people that every rhinoceros horn, everyfur, every bowl of shark fin soup, every Ivory product, and every tiger boneproduct, etc. consumed by human beings, are innocent wild animals slaughteredbehind them.

    The mission of wild aid is to ban illegal trade in endangered wildlifeand mitigate climate change. It aims to educate the public to reduce theconsumption demand for endangered wildlife products through public publicityand improve the awareness of environmental protection.

    1. Improve the awareness of wildlife protectionby acquiring the knowledge of wildlife protection.

    2. Focus on environmental protection andprotection of all lives.

    3. Analysis of the living environment of wildanimals with appropriate thinking mode.

    4. Skillfully use the vocabulary and grammar knowledgeof this unit to cultivate self-study ability according to the unit content

    5. Develop cooperative learning ability throughdiscussion and other ways

    1. Enable the Ss to talk about the currentsituation of wild animals.

    2. Guide the Ss tosummarize the main idea of each paragraph as well as the main idea of the text.

    3. Help Ss learn whateffort has been made to change the serious situation and what else should bedone.

    Step 1: Warming up and prediction

    1. Let’s look at some animals, and discuss what they have in common?

    They are endangeredanimals.

    They are being huntedby some illegal hunters for money.

    They should be wellprotected now.

    1) It is good at running and jumping.

    2) It is one of the Beijing Olympic mascots.

    3) Its name is closely connected with Hoh XilNature Reserve.

    4) It mainly lives in Qinghai and Tibet.

    It is an antelope.

    3. Watch a video about antelopes and talk about the feelings about thevideo.

    Feel sorry and sad. They shouldn’t be huntedand instead should be well protected.
