一.教学目标
(一).知识方面:
1.培养学生能运用过去进行时来描述、谈论过去某个时间正在发生的事情或动作的意识和能力,能就过去某个时间正在发生的动作做出正确的描述。
2.培养学生的想象力和角色扮演的合作能力。
3.培养学生讲述过去发生的事情经过的能力。能正确运用一般过去时来讲述故事。
(二).技能方面:
1.本单元的语言目标是Talk about past events and tell a story(谈论过去的时间和讲述一个故事),围绕这一目标,要涉及句型:
What were you doing when the UFO arrived?
----I was sitting in the barber’s chair. The barber was cutting myhair.
因此必须学习standing、studying、cleaning、sleeping、cooking、making、eating、cutting、等表示地点的词,以便为上述句型提供语言材料。
2.学习过去进行时的有关知识。Was/were+现在分词,是该时态的表达式。
3.在学习过程中,要区分The boy was walking down the street when the UFO landed.和While the boy was walking downthe street, the UFO landed.这两种由when和while引导的状语从句的句型结构。注意它们的不同。
4.在本单元重要学习足够的关于一般过去时的知识,并能运用一般过去时这一时态来向别人讲述过去发生的事情经过。
(三).情感培养:
1. 让学生从本单元的学习中获得充分的想象力所带来的新鲜和快乐。
2. 让学生在相互谈论和角色扮演中学会合作、帮助,以获得共同进步。
3. 培养学生在谈论过去的事件和别人描述过程中获取成就感。
二.重点难点:
(1)重点:when和while引导的时间状语从句地掌握和运用:
The girl was shopping when the alien got out.
While the girl was shopping, the alien got out.
(2)难点:过去进行时和一般过去时在实际应用中的区别。
(3)疑点:在使用when和while引导的时间状语从句中,如何正确选用when 或while是学生疑惑点。
三.课时安排:
Section A:2课时.Section B:2课时.Self Check:1课时.Reading:1课时.
Exercise:1课时.合计:7课时.
四.教学策划:
本单元的语法要点是when和while引导的时间状语从句中和过去进行时态,涉及到过去事件的谈论和对过去事情的描述,因此在教学中采用动作演示、观看描述、现场讨论的方法和思路,充分利用教材中的卡通画,发挥学生的想象力,在对话交流讨论中,理解并运用该语法项目。
Section A 都是围绕本单元第一幅卡通画而展开的,是语言的输入阶段,呈现了本单元的主要语言动作和语法项目。1a、1b、和1c分别是看、听、说的任务型环节,均是1a中卡通画的内容。可先由Where were you when the UFO arrived?开始,然后再开始谈论What were you doing when the UFO arrived?引导学生在现在进行时的基础上运用过去进行时来回答:I wasshopping when the UFO arrived.
Section B是Section A语言功能和语法项目的再现、巩固和扩展.
Period1 and Period2(总第15——16课时)
Section A
一.教学目标:
1. 运用when和while引导的时间状语从句、一般过去时、过去进行时来谈论过去的事件,讲述故事。
2. 掌握过去进行时的用法,学会运用was/were+现在分词这一结构。
3. 立足本单元语言目标,培养学生的想象力和学习兴趣。
二.教学步骤:
1.情景导入
出示关于飞碟、外星人的图片(课前仿照教科书上的卡通画进行放大)问学生:What’s this? 诱导学生回答It’s a UFO/an alien, 由此激发学生的学习兴趣和热情。
2.课前热身
组织学生看课件并提出问题“What was theboy doing when the UFO landed?”引导学生回答He was riding the bike when the UFO landed。然后在谈论课件上别的人的情况。
组织学生做游戏。一个同学在门外站着,班上别的同学做动作,然后该同学进入教室坐下。这时教师提出问题What are you doing when Li Lei stood outside the classroom justnow?诱导学生回答:I wasreading a book when Li Lei stood outside the classroom just now或while I was reading a book, LiLei stood outside the classroom just now. 然后再换别的同学,重复上面的过程。
3.互动教学
Section A的语言目标是Talk about past events and tell a story.(谈论过去的事件和讲故事)1a的卡通画体现的就是“对过去的事件的谈论”,同时也是1b的听力、1c的结对练习的话题来源。学生应在对过去进行时的初步感知下来进行练习。2a、2b的听力材料一致,但目标任务不同,学生可逐步完成。3c的结对练习主要是呈现when/while引导的状语从句运用的不同,学生应在教师的指导下认真体会、练习。3a要求学生通过阅读,加深印象,完成3b的任务,讲述这个故事。本课第4部分让学生在开放的活动中去完成,练习过去进行时。

学生看教师展示的图片(飞碟、外星人,不同的房间),然后学生完成1a的配对。
师:What’s this?
生:It’s a UFO.
师:Where is the UFO?
生:It’s in front of myhouse.
设计意图----这样做的目的是导入新课,呈现新的词汇和本课内容。

师生共同看科幻片课件或师生游戏
师:What were you doing whenLi Lei stood outside?
生:I was reading a book whenLi Lei stood outside.
师:What was the man doingwhen the UFO arrived?
生:He was sleeping late whenit arrived.
设计意图-----这样做的目的是向学生呈现过去进行时(was/were+现在分词)句型结构。

师生共同讨论图片或课件内容,然后通过游戏练习when/while引导的状语从句。

生:I was riding a bike whenthe UFO landed. (教师诱导)
师:What happened while youare riding a bike?
生:While I was riding abike, the UFO landed.(教师诱导)
设计意图-----这样做的目的是向学生呈现when/while引导的状语从句在使用上的不同。

教师让学生看1a、2c的卡通画,1b提供的动作内容,然后让他们相互问答。
生A:Look at the man. What was hedoing when the UFO landed?
生B:He was sleeping late when itarrived.
设计意图-----这是让学生操作过去进行时,及when/while引导的时间状语从句,加深对这一时态的理解和运用。

学生进行第4部分的pair work, 相互问答,完成调查表。
生A:What were you doing at nineo’clock last night?
生B:I was sleeping/doing myhomework.
设计意图-----让学生在实际情境中理解运用过去进行时。
互动6
师生共同就3a的内容和图片讨论,完成图片的排序,然后完成3b的pairwork。
师:Look at this picture.What was the alien doing?
生:He was looking at thesouvenirs.
设计意图-----先就每幅图画的内容提问,有助于学生对每幅画和整个文章的阅读,也有利于学生根据图片内容讲述故事。
4. 达标检查
课后,完成一份某个同学昨天日程安排的调查报告,并根据这个调查报告,向全班同学讲述在某个时刻,他正在进行的动作。
5.教学反思:
①学习了过去进行时的结构和运用,was/were+现在分词。
②学习了when/while引导的时间状语从句When the UFO took off, the man was V-ing. While the girl wasV-ing, the UFO took off.
在学习Section A时,采用了图示说明法,动作演示法,直观呈现法等,在游戏活动中,通过交际,实现本单元所设计的语言目标。
三.知识延伸:
1.链接生活
链接一:如何向别人叙述两个动作同时正在进行?我们可以用while 来完成。
While I was doing my homework, my brother was watching TV.
链接二:下面句子中的while的词汇和用法有何不同。
1).We’re going away for a while.
2).Jane was dressed in brown while Mary was dressed in blue.
1)的while是名词“一会儿”的意思。2)的while 为转折连词,“然后”的意思。
2.实践探索
(1)课后,同学们想象“当自己遇见飞碟和外星人时”自己和自己的家人正在干某事,请根据自己的想象,向别人讲述这个故事。
(2)巩固练习:有步骤地完成学生练习册;同学讨论完成英语周报部分延伸拓展题目.
四.板书设计:

I was ridingabike.(过去某时正在发生的动作)
What was he doing when the UFO arrived?
He was sleeping.(过去某时正存在的状态)
过去进行时的谓语动词结构: was/were (be的过去式)+V-ing ( 现在分词)
The boy was walking down the street whenthe UFOlanded.(正在那时,突然)
While the boy waswalking down the street, the UFO landed.(在……期间的某个时候)
When/while引导时间状语从句。( when后通常用暂短性动词, while后通常用持续性动词,因此它所引导的状语从句中,谓语动词常用进行时态。)

学生特点分析:
八年级学生有着极强的求知欲和表现欲。根据学生的心理特点,我在课堂上多以表扬为主,注重对学生英语学习兴趣的培养,鼓励他们大胆说、积极做!同时,培养学生养成良好的听、说、读、写等学习习惯,提高课堂教学效率。在今后的教学中,我将继续重视对学生英语学习兴趣的培养,采用多种手段帮助学生在记忆力强的时期多记单词,多学习语言规则,并尽可能多创造模仿的机会,提高学生的语音和语调,真正做到听说先行,读写跟上。帮助学生减轻学习负担,重新树立起学习英语的信心。
教学内容
本单元要求学生熟练掌握过去进行时的用法。本节课将围绕着what were you doing when the UFO arrived ?这一主题开展多种教学活动。使学生在听说读写四个方面熟练应用过去进行时。
教学目标:
1. Words : barbershop , well , bathroom , accident , earth , silence , playground , around ,strange , kitchen , modern , follow , shirt .
2. when , while 引导的时间状语从句。
3. 学习过去进行时态。
4. 利用知识谈论过去发生的事情。
5. 复习过去式,学会讲故事。
教学难点分析:When和while做引导连词的时间状语从句;how to use thePast Continuous Tense / How to improve students’Listening skills.
